Double Degree Programs

Studying abroad is a unique opportunity of personal enhancement not only from the academic and professional point of view, but also in terms of language learning, intercultural skills, self-reliance and self-awareness. A double degree (DD) diploma gives more chances to find a job in international companies and organizations, as well as in any industry requiring European minded candidates.

That is why the Master Degree in Global Entrepreneurship Economics and Management (GEEM) offers its students the possibility to follow double-degree master programs entirely taught in English.

DD Structure

The students participating to a double degree program of the Department of Economics spend their second year studying at the partner University and, once obtained the whole 120 credits due, they will achieve two master degree diplomas: the Italian diploma released by the University of Insubria and the diploma released by the partner University.

At present the Department of Economics holds two double degree agreements, respectively with the Friedrich Schiller Universitšt Jena and the Universitšt Hohenheim. The first agreement regards both the programs of GEEM master degree: Economics of Innovation (EI) and International Business & Entrepreneurship (IBE), while the second one concerns the EI program only. In order to achieve the double degree diploma, GEEM students selected in the program are required to spend their second academic year at the partner University in Germany and to attain respectively at least 42 ECTS credits of the required courses in Jena, and 60 ECTS credits in Hohenheim – as stated in their Learning Agreement. All courses within the double-degree program are taught in English.

University of Jena, Germany
Starting from the academic year 2012-2013 the students of both GEEM’s specializations Economics of Innovation and International Business and Entrepreneurship have the opportunity to participate to the double degree program at the Master of Science in Economics – specialization in Innovation and Change – of the School of Economics and Business Administration of Friedrich-Schiller-Universitšt Jena (University of Jena, Germany).

The area of Jena is among Germany’s fastest growing regions, with many internationally renowned research institutes and companies, a comparatively low unemployment rate and a very young population structure. The Friedrich-Schiller-Universitšt was established in Jena in 1558 and is among the ten more ancient universities in Germany.

University of Hohenheim (Stuttgart, Germany)
From the academic year 2013-2014, the Department of Economics offers to its GEEM students specializing in Economics of Innovation the opportunity to participate to a second double degree program at the Master of Science in International Business and Economics of the University of Hohenheim (Stuttgart, Germany).

The University of Hohenheim – Universitšt Hohenheim is located southward of Stuttgart, Germany. Founded in 1818, it is Stuttgart’s oldest University. Its primary areas of specialisation had traditionally been agricultural and natural sciences. Today, however, the majority of its students are enrolled in one of the many study programs offered by the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences making the University of Hohenheim one of Germany’s top-tier universities in these fields.
